Jan. 5 - WEXFORD, Pa. – After leading the Bethany men’s basketball team to a pair of wins, including one over a Top 10 team, senior Joe Testa (Amity, Pa./Trinity) was chosen as the PAC Player of the Week for the second consecutive time.

The 6-3 forward averaged 18 points, 14 rebounds and 2.5 steals in the two wins last week. He had 11 points and eight rebounds in an 85-60 triumph over Pitt-Greensburg on Dec. 30. Then in a Jan. 2 meeting with John Carroll, who reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last year and was ranked ninth in the most recent poll, Testa turned in the best performance of his career.

In an 85-63 win over the Blue Streaks, he scored a career-high 25 points on 11-for-19 shooting, grabbed 20 rebounds for the second time in three games and made a career-best five steals. He was the first Bison player to total 20+ points and 20+ rebounds in a game since Matt Drahos recorded 32 and 26 in a win over Westminster in Jan., 2006.

Testa continued his stellar senior year Monday night when he scored 22 points and hauled down seven boards in a 72-69 victory over Thiel. It was BC’s seventh consecutive triumph and kept them undefeated in the PAC with a 3-0 mark. Testa also raised his career point total to 977, leaving him 23 away from becoming the 22nd player in Bethany history to reach 1,000.

“I’ve been coaching for 20 years and Joe is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever been around,” said Bison head coach Andrew Sachs. “He leads by example and is relentless in practice and games. Every honor Joe receives, he deserves.”

A psychology major, Joe is the son of Darlene and John Testa of Amity, Pa.
