Jan. 18 - WEXFORD, Pa. – For the second time this season, Bethany College sophomore Nick Wilcox (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) has been selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

In the Bison’s only game last week, the 6-3 forward recorded his second double-double of the year to lift BC to a 71-66 victory at Thomas More. He finished the night with 19 points, a career-high 13 rebounds and three blocked shots, as Bethany (10-5, 4-2) handed the Saints their first conference loss of the year. Eleven of his 19 markers came in the first half, including a string of seven straight to close the first half and help the Bison take a 27-26 lead at intermission after overcoming a seven-minute scoreless stretch.

Wilcox’s production has jumped dramatically recently, as he is averaging 22.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals in the last three games. As good as his overall numbers are, Wilcox has been even better in PAC action, as he is averaging 17.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 steals and 2.2 blocks, while shooting nearly 54 percent (7-13) from the arc in six league games. Overall, his 2.93 steals per game not only leads the PAC but is also ranked 15th in all of Division III.

“Nick has really increased his scoring production recently,” said Bethany head coach Andrew Sachs. “He still does all the little things as well, but now a lot of his deflections and tips are leading directly to scoring opportunities. Nick is also shooting well from the outside and he takes smart shots within the structure of the offense.”
A pre-physical therapy major, Nick is the son of Sharon & David Lacey of Venetia, Pa.
