BETHANY LOSES TO VISITING W&J IN LACROSSE

March 28 - BETHANY, W.Va. – Freshman Vince Frammartino (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) scored his first collegiate goal, but it was the only score for the Bethany College men’s lacrosse team in a 16-1 loss to visiting Washington & Jefferson Wednesday evening.

The Presidents (2-7) scored three times in the first seven minutes of the game and added another before the end of the first period to build a 4-0 lead. The margin grew to 6-0 by halftime with two more scores and another four goals swelled the W&J lead to 10-0 entering the fourth quarter.

After a couple early goals by the Presidents, the Bison notched their first goal of the game. Frammartino, who entered the game second on the team with three assists, recorded his first goal off an assist from sophomore Corey Doneski (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck). It was the third assist of the season for Doneski, matching him with Frammartino for second place on the squad.

W&J would complete the win with four goals in a little over four minutes down the stretch. For the game, the Presidents registered a 54-15 advantage in shots and had a 52-27 ground ball margin.

In net for the Bison was sophomore C.J. Studnicky (Severna Park, Md.), who stopped 16 shots in the setback. Doneski, the team leader in ground balls, scooped up seven to lead BC in the game, while sophomore Eric Sowinski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) had six and freshman T.J. Graham (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) had four.

The Bison will continue their long home stand Saturday afternoon by hosting Thiel at 1 p.m.
