March 28 - WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Coming off its first varsity victory, the Bethany College men’s lacrosse team came up short in its quest for a second straight win, as Otterbein scored eight first quarter goals and went on to a 25-4 triumph.

The Cardinals used two goals each from Graham Shippy and Andrew Donatelli to build an 8-0 lead after one period. The Bison (1-5) posted the first tally of the second quarter when sophomore Zach Gordon (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) scored off an assist from freshman Sam Breitenstein (Mohnton, Pa./Gov. Mifflin). Bethany would add another goal with 3:33 left in the quarter when freshman Brandon Schnupp (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) finished off an assist from sophomore Kyle Arrington (Jackson Twp., Ohio/Jackson).

However, Otterbein put another goal on the board with only 1:13 to go to carry a 13-2 margin into halftime.

The third quarter saw the home team continue to add goals. The lone BC score came midway through the stanza when freshman Robbie Foster (Greatbridge, Va.) scored an unassisted goal. Bethany’s final goal came just 16 seconds into the fourth quarter on a score by freshman Kyle Romanek (Brunswick, Md.), but the Cardinals finished off the win with two more scores.

In addition to his one goal, Romanek also scooped up a team-high four ground balls, while Arrington picked up three. In net, freshman C.J, Studnicky (Severna Park, Md.) made nine saves.

Bethany will be back on the field Thursday when its hosts Washington & Jefferson at 5 p.m.
