Mar. 1 – UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Bethany men’s lacrosse squad fell to Ohio Athletic Conference member John Carroll University 16-1, on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Streaks started the game strong, scoring four goals in the first period of play.
The second frame saw Brendan Wessells (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) find the back of the net for Bethany’s lone goal of the contest. The hosts, however, would continue to play well heading into intermission with a 9-1 advantage.
Senior goalie C.J. Studnicky (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) performed well in the first half, registering 10 saves over the first two periods.
The third and fourth period was more of the same, as John Carroll tacked on seven more goals, as the Bison fell 16-1.
On the offensive end, the Bison were led by Wessells and Dylan Radwanski (Toronto, Ohio/Toronto). Wessells would score one goal on five shots, while Radwanski added four shots on goal. Bethany’s defense was spearheaded by Studnicky, who registered a season-high 22 saves.
The Bison will be back in action on Wednesday, March 5, when they play host to Franciscan University. The contest with the Barons is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
