Aug. 31- ERIE, Pa- The Bethany College men’s soccer team (0-2) fell, 4-1, to Fredonia State (1-1) in the consolation game of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
Mike Schreiner recorded the victory for the Blue Devils as made three saves for his first victory of the season.
Jay Dry gave Fredonia State a 1-0 advantage in the 10th minute as he received a pass from teammate Brandon Schick and shot the ball past the Bison goalkeeper.
Luke Tylutki extended Fredonia State’s lead to, 2-0, in the 18th minute as he scored on off-balance goal resulting from a direct free kick. Chase Lipshie and Jake Persons both were credited with assists on Tylutki's goal.
Senior Arkangelo James (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) got the Bison on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute with his second goal of the season and his 50th career goal, as he received a pass from sophomore John McGrath (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) and shot it into the goal.
The Blue Devils would score goals in the 42nd and 47th minute to take the 4-1 victory.
Bethany returns to action Sept. 4 when they travel to Frostburg State with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m.
