SEPT. 4- FROSTBURG, Maryland- The Bethany College men’s soccer team (0-3) fell, 3-0, to Frostburg State University (3-0), in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening at Bobcat Stadium. Drew Hock made three saves for the Bobcats to record his second shutout of the season.
Pablo Torrano put the Bobcats on the scoreboard three minutes into the game when Jared Fohs fired a shot on net , which freshman goalkeeper Callum Appleby (Maidstone, United Kingdom/ Maidstone Grammar School) saved. Torrano then recovered the rebound and put the ball into the net for the 1-0 lead. The Bison would trail by the same score at the half.
In the second half of play, Chris Herbert gave Frostburg a 2-0 lead in the 66th minute as he managed to place another rebounded shot behind the Bison keeper.
Kunle Akinfeleye put the game out of reach for the Bobcats scoring the third goal of the game in the 89th minute as he fired a shot past a diving Appleby into the left corner of the net.
Bethany returns to action this weekend when it travels to Alliance, Ohio to participate in the Mount Union Invitational. The Bison face Keystone College (Pa) on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. and Defiance on Sunday at a time to be announced.
