Bethany Tennis Finishes Season with 9-0 Win at Muskingum

April 22 - NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Bethany College men’s tennis team completed the 2013 season Monday afternoon with a 9-0 victory at Muskingum (Ohio) University.

The Bison (5-10) swept all three doubles matches, with the closest match-up coming at #1. Junior James Peterson (Colorado Springs, Col./Cheyenne Mountain) and Dustin Maiolo (Stevensville, Ontario/St. Michaels) picked up an 8-5 win to complete the year with a 9-7 record. The other teams of sophomore Jared Roque (Munster, Ind.) and freshman Kyle Booker (Forest Park, Ga.) at #2 and freshman Dakota Maravelis (Berkeley Springs, W.Va.) and junior Dylan Schooley (Washington, Pa./Trinity) at #3 were both victorious by 8-0 counts.

7948Roque13.jpg Singles action saw BC win every flight in straight sets. Roque (right) highlighted the matches with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at #4, which gave him an 8-8 record for the year. Maiolo picked up his seventh victory of his junior campaign by a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #3. Schooley did not surrender a point in closing his season with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6.

Rounding out the singles victories was Peterson with a 6-0, 6-2 decision at #1, Maravelis winning 6-0, 6-3 at #2 and Booker posting a 7-5, 6-2 win at #5.
