Bethany Tennis Held Scoreless on Opening Day of PACs
April 19 -ERIE, Pa. – The Bethany College men’s tennis team did not advance anyone out of the first round during the opening day of the PAC Championships, held at the Pennbriar Racquet Club in Erie, Pa.
In doubles play, the #1 team of juniors James Peterson (Colorado Springs, Col./Cheyenne Mountain) and Dustin Maiolo (Stevensville, Ontario/St. Michaels) entered as the third seed, but were upset in the opening round. They were knocked off by the duo of Eric Thompson and Sergio Pascual from Thomas More in a tightly-contested match 8-6.
The Bison’s other doubles teams of sophomore Jared Roque (Munster, Ind.) and freshman Kyle Booker (Forest Park, Ga.) at #2 and freshman Dakota Maravelis (Berkeley Springs, W.Va.) and junior Dylan Schooley (Washington, Pa./Trinity) at #3 were defeated by 8-1 scores.
Singles play saw Bethany fall in straight sets in all six flights. The closest match was at #3, where Maiolo went to a tiebreaker in the opening set before eventually falling 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
The Bison have one more match left in the 2013 season, as BC travels to Muskingum for a 3:30 p.m. match.
