BETHANY, W.Va. – #GivingTuesday is Dec. 1, and Bethany College is encouraging its supporters to direct donations to the Bison athletics programs.

Giving TuesdayNearly 70 percent of Bethany students participate in at least one sport. With the COVID-19 pandemic cutting short the Spring 2020 season and delaying the Fall season, the sports programs lost funds from ticket and concession sales and on-site fund-raisers.

“Our alumni and friends have always stepped up to support the current Bison in the classroom and in competition,” Athletic Director Steve Thompson. “This year, with our first Day of Giving, I am excited for us all to step up together, as #ONEBethany, and support these scholar athletes who have worked all semester preparing to compete this spring.”

To incentivize giving, a generous donor has agreed to award the team with the largest number of donors with an additional $1,250; the team with the highest percentage of team alumni who donate will also receive an extra $1,250.

Additional donors have pledged $20,000 to the Bethany Fund to encourage donations, and matching gifts will be announced throughout the day. The Bethany Fund supports all campus needs.
