Oct. 28 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College junior, Marina Baker (Winchester, Va./Sherando) has been named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week announced the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Baker won three individual events in a dual meet sweep of Franciscan (139-79) and Alfred State (174-17) last Friday, earning wins in the 50 free (25.71), 100 free (56.08) and 100 breast (1:13.45). She was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay (2:00.29), which established a new school mark in the event. The same relay team also won the 200 free relay (1:48.83). On Saturday, Baker also claimed individual wins in the 200 free (2:03.45) and the 200 breast (2:43.60). She was again a member of the 400 IM relay team that captured first place in Saturday’s 73-53 home win over Alfred State.
After going 8-0 last week, including 5-0 in all of her individual events, Baker is now currently 11-0 on the season, having placed first in every single event that she has competed in. She has captured seven individual wins, and four wins in relay competition for the Bison, who have started the year, 4-0.
The Bison Swimming & Diving teams will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 2 as they host Westminster College. The day’s events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the John J. Knight Natatorium.
