July, 25 - BETHANY, W. VA. – Coming off a season that saw the team’s most wins in recent memory, the Bethany College women’s swimming program (9-7) can add a new award to its’ list of accomplishments. The team was recently awarded a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCCA) Scholar All-America Team award as announced by the CSCCA.
Scholar All-America Team awards are given to programs that sport a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher. The Bison captured the award by finishing the 2012-13 academic year with a combined 3.02 grade point average.
“After the leaps and bounds our ladies made in the pool this year, I'm even more proud that we were able to make the same improvements in the classroom,” said head coach David Dow.
“As a team, we really buckled down academically this semester. We set our goals high, and both our coaching staff and team members are excited to achieve this status. It's an honor to be named a CSCAA Scholar All-American Team, and something that we will continue to strive for in the future.”
The Bison are one of five teams in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference to be honored with a CSCCA Scholar All-America Team award, as Bethany joins Chatham, Grove City, Saint Vincent and Westminster on the list of schools to earn the distinction.
