Feb. 18 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College Swimming & Diving sophomore Brandon Martell (Sharon, Pa./Sharon) culminated a solid season by being named an All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference Second-Team selection announced the conference on Monday.
It was the second-straight All-PAC recognition for Martell, who also earned second-team laurels following his freshman campaign last season. He was chosen as an All-PAC selection following two top-three finishes in the diving events at the PAC Championships last week.
In the one-meter dive, Martell garnered a second-place finish, completing his 11 dives with a total score of 386.35. During the one-meter diving event, Martell also captured the six dive school record, posting a score of 246.60, breaking Pedro Cuesta’s 1981 mark of 242.0.
Earlier in the weekend, Martell nabbed a third-place finish in the three-meter dive, posting a total score of 336.80.
Over the course of the regular season, Martell was a symbol of consistency, as he placed first in 18 of his 21 diving events during the 2013-14 campaign, placing no lower than third all season.
“Brandon showed great improvements this season,” remarked third-year head coach David Dow. “He progressed really well as a diver, and it was great to see him be able to break some records this season.
“His success at the PACs this year makes me really excited for our team’s future.”
