Jake Collas Earns PAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week

Dec. 9 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College freshman standout Jake Collas (South Park, Pa./South Park) has been named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Men’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week, announced the conference office on Monday.

Jake_Collas_PM7O6366.jpgCollas continued his impressive freshman campaign for the Bison, notching three victories in Saturday’s 120-99 home dual win over Hiram. Collas claimed individual wins in the 200 IM (2:11.26) and 100 breaststroke (1:03.68), while also swimming the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:45.94).

"Jake definitely deserves to win PAC Swimmer of the Week," remarked head coach David Dow. "He's been working hard all semester and has been a huge part of our men being competitive this year.

“There have been quite a few meets where he's had a standout performance, and it's nice for him to get the recognition that he has deserved for doing so well."

So far this season, Collas has been a steady performer for the Bison. Through eight meets, he has posted 13 wins in 17 individual swims. He becomes the first Bison to win PAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week since Stephen Zinz in 2005.

Collas and the Bison will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 8, when they travel to Washington, Pa. for a conference meet with the Presidents’ of Washington & Jefferson. The meet is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
