Feb. 25 - GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Bethany College men’s indoor track and field team gathered five top three placements, including a pair of first places, during Friday’s Denison Last Chance Indoor Track Meet.

The Bison women did not have anyone participate in the Denison meet.

Sophomore Arkangelo James (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) had the most productive meet. He started by winning the 400 with a time of 50.73 seconds, finishing ahead of runner-up and BC sophomore Lamine Bakde (Guinea/William L. Sayre), who was second with a time of 53.55.

James would also take third place overall in the 200 in a time of 23.64 seconds. In the final running event, he ran the second leg on the 4x400 relay along with Balde, senior Joe Douglas (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) and freshman Derrick Tolliver (Bellaire, Ohio). That relay won the event with a time of 3:33.43, beating runner-up Denison by a second and a half.

Freshman Anthony Thompson (Colquitt, Ga./Miller County) recorded another top finish, as he placed second in the 60 with a finals time of 7.23 seconds. Freshman Dillon Handy (Alliance, Ohio) raced to a fifth place showing in the 60 Hurdles by crossing the finish line in 9.63 seconds.

Finishing out the top six placements for the Bison were two other members of the winning relay, as Tolliver was sixth in the 400 (54.92) and Douglas finished sixth in the 800 (2:04.77).

With the indoor season complete, Bethany will continue preparation for the outdoor track season. The outdoor year begins March 24 with the Bison competing at the Wheeling Jesuit Invitational.
