Bethany Posts More Impressive Efforts at Mount Union Invitational
Feb. 2 - ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Bethany College men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed in their second full meet on Saturday when they traveled to the unscored Mount Union Jim Wuske Invitational.
The Bison men’s team turned in the top performance of the day, starting with the 4x200 Relay. The foursome of senior Raymear Pinchom (Willingboro, N.J.), freshman Mike Adams (Abingdon, Md./Bel Air), junior Arkangelo James (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and freshman Umar Moore (right - Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) placed second with a time of 1:35.63.
James picked up another top finish in the 400, as he took third place with a time of 52.05, while freshman Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) earned fifth place (52.25). The other third place finish came in the 5K, where freshman Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) broke the tape in a time of 16:27.30.
In the field events, Moore had the best finish, as he posted a distance of 21-2.5 in the long jump to take fourth place overall.
For the women, their top showing was also in the 4x200 relay. The team of freshman Heather Grinkley (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton), freshman Bri Steich (right - Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown), junior Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) and freshman Heather Goolsby (Washington, Pa.) finished in a time of 1:54.46 to earn third place.
The top individual placements came in the 60-meter dash, where Grinkley took seventh place in 8.50 and sophomore Megan Butler (Brooklyn, N.Y./Homeschool) was right behind her in eighth place with a time of 8.56.
The Bison will be back in action in less than a week, as they compete at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational Friday, Feb. 8th.
