Bethany Track & Field Performs Well at Jim Wuske Invite

Feb. 6 – ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Bethany indoor track & field teams competed at the Jim Wuske Invite at Mount Union College on Saturday afternoon. The Bison were highlighted by the relay team of Ashley Borsch (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local), Heather Grinkley (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton), Bri Steich (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown), and Maria Jackson-McBride (Spotylvania, Va./West Potomac), as they set a new school record in the 4X200 meter relay (1:52.47).

Borsch, Grinkley, Steich, and Jackson-McBride teamed up to take down the former 4X200 meter relay record of 1:53.37 that was held by Kaitlyn Black, Desiree Finley, Hayley Acree, and Paige Prato since 2011. The Bison have now broken school records in three-consecutive meets.

Jackson-McBride impressed in her individual events, posting a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:02.54). The senior also placed 14th in the 200-meter dash out of 63 runners with a time of 27.38.

Grinkley and Borsch both earned top-ten finishes in their events as well. Grinkley earned sixth in the long jump (15-11.00), and ran to 13th overall in the 60-yard dash (8.33). Borsch placed 10th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.99).

Senior Kelsea Martz (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) and freshman Leighanna Frantz (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) finished eighth in their events. Martz competed in the 5000-meter run (21:00.5), while Frantz continued her success in the high jump (1.46 m).

Butler placed second in the 200-yard dash (22.56), earned third in the 400-meter dash (50.12), and finished seventh in the high jump (5-11.50). The junior standout also took fifth in the 60 dash prelims (7.11), before turning in a 7.27 in the finals.

Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) broke the Mount Union Invite record in the 400-meter dash, turning in the events' top time (49.69). His time broke the original mark of 50.16 that Justin Muise of Buffalo State University set on February 5, 2011. His 49.69 is the 15th-fastest in all of Division-III thus season.

Minger also took third place in the 200 dash (22.64) and seventh in the high jump (5–11.50).

Senior Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) finished second overall in both the long jump (22-08.50), and the triple jump (43-00.50)
