June 1 - WEXFORD, Pa. – For the third consecutive year, the Bethany College women’s track and field program was honored with the PAC Sportsmanship Award when all six spring sports awards were recently announced by the conference office.

The Bison have claimed all three Sportsmanship awards given out in women’s track, as the PAC Team Sportsmanship Award was started in the 2008-09 sports season and is an effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among conference teams.

The award is sponsored by the PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), a committee comprised of student-athletes from each member institution that assemble to provide insight on the student-athlete experience. Each PAC team was asked to vote for the conference team in its sport which displayed the highest level of sportsmanship. The awards are handed out at the conclusion of the fall, winter and spring seasons.

Bethany’s women finished in fifth place at this year’s PAC Championships and the team collected a total of five all-conference awards. The Bison also sent athletes to ECAC Championships, led by Desiree Finley (Nanticoke, Pa./Hanover Area). The BC senior qualified in the 100 hurdles and rest her own school record in the 400 hurdles, while also running on the 4x100 relay team with junior Kaitlyn Black (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and freshmen Hayley Acree (Middlebourne, W.Va./Tyler Consolidated) and Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes).
