Bethany’s Gregg & Minger Earn PAC Weekly Honors

April 1 - GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College swept the PAC Men’s Track and Field Weekly Awards for April 1st when junior Ben Gregg (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth) was named the conference’s Field Athlete of the Week and freshman Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison) was selected as the league’s Runner of the Week.

7170Gregg13.jpg The duo played a role in three of the Bison’s four first place finishes Saturday at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational, where the Green and White finished third out of 15 teams.

The 2011 PAC champion in the javelin and a Second Team All-PAC performer in the event last year, Gregg (right) has also qualified for ECAC Championships in the event each of this first two seasons. He made it three years in a row with his performance Saturday, as he took first place by nearly 14 feet with his top throw of 191 feet.

In addition, he is ranked first in the PAC to this point and cracked the top 25 in the nation, as he ranks 24th in Division III with that throw.

A business major, Ben is the son of Franklin Gregg Jr. and Mary Ellen Gregg.

2436Minger13.jpg On the track, Minger (right) won the 400 by breaking the tape in a time of 50.71 seconds, which is the second-fastest time by a PAC runner this season. The BC freshman would then close the meet by leading off the for 4x400 relay, which earned first place by crossing in a time of 3:24.06, just .06 away from qualifying for ECAC Championships. That time is also the quickest in the league so far this spring and the 40th best time by a Division III school so far.
