Feb. 6 - MARIETTA, Ohio – Bethany freshman Connie Woods (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) qualified for ECAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in the triple jump to highlight the Bison’s efforts at the Marietta Open Indoor Meet Friday evening.

The BC women scored 23 points to finish eighth out of 11 teams, while Bethany’s men totaled 11 to place eighth out of nine programs.

Woods finished second overall in the triple jump with a measurement of 35-3.25. The only effort better was by Melitta Brown from Division I Robert Morris (38-11.5) and Woods finished in front of competitors from Marshall, Ohio, Robert Morris and Division II schools West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit.

The Bison’s other big scorer was junior Jodi Bodo (Steubenville, Ohio/Steubenville Catholic Central). She crossed third in the 400 with a time of 1:01.81, the exact same time she posted two weeks ago at the WVU meet. Bodo later took fifth overall and second among Division III runners in the 200 in 27.90.

Bethany’s men were spearheaded by senior Taylor McNeil (Old Saybrook, Conn.). He placed in the 400 by taking fifth with a time of 55.09 and earned eighth place in the 200 in 24.39. Although he didn’t qualify for the finals in the 55, his time of 6.84 was 11th in the preliminary but only one DIII runner had a better time and that was Marietta’s Jayshon Irvin, who won the event.

The Green and White’s remaining points came in field events. Sophomore Clint Wilson (Moundsville, W.Va./Bishop Donahue) was sixth in the high jump by clearing 5-10.75 and junior Grant Walters (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) took eighth in the triple jump with an effort of 38-4.

The Bison will be back in action next Friday at the Capital (Ohio) University Invitational.
