Dec. 5 – YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Bethany College indoor track & field teams opened up their season by competing in the Youngstown State Icebreaker Meet on Friday afternoon.
The big winner on the day was junior Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local), as he defeated athletes from Division I, II, and III institutions to capture first place in the 400 meter dash (49.22). Junior Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) also showed well, finishing third in the triple jump with a leap of 21’ 11 ¾”.
Freshmen Shae Long (Steubenville, Ohio/East Liverpool) made his presence known in the high jump, grabbing fourth place with a jump of 6’ 4 ¾”.
Junior Maria Jackson-McBride (Spotsylvania, Va./West Potomac) was the lone Bison woman to compete, finishing 12th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.76.
The Bison will hit the track next on Jan. 17 as they travel to Edinboro, Pa., for the Al Hall Freedom Games. The activities are set to begin at 10 A.M.
