May 18 - TROY, N.Y. – The Bethany College women’s 4x100 relay broke the school record, which highlighted the second day of the 2012 ECAC Track & Field Championships at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.

In the first event on the track Friday, the Bison relay of freshman Megan Butler (Brooklyn, N.Y./Homeschool), senior Kaitlyn Black (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley), sophomore Hayley Acree (Middlebourne, W.Va./Tyler Consolidated) and sophomore Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) posted a time of 50.20 seconds. That mark broke the previous record by .25 seconds and placed the relay 18th out of 28 teams at the meet.

A pair of BC women also ran in an individual event. Black ran in the 400 and took second in her heat and 11th overall out of 27 runners. Her time of 58.78 seconds was the second-fastest of her career behind only a time of 58.74 seconds Black recorded at the PAC Quad Meet April 18th.

A short time later, Prato competed in the 200. She took third place in her heat and set a personal best with a time of 26.30 seconds, surpassing her previous top time set at the Allegheny Invitational May 11th by .06.

For the men, sophomore Arkangelo James (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) also placed in the top 12 of his event. In the 800, he clocked in with a time of 1:54.35, placing him 11th place overall out of 29 total runners.

The day began for Bethany in the 4x100 relay, where sophomore Lamine Balde (Guinea/William L. Sayre), junior Raymear Pinchom (Willingboro, N.J.) and freshmen Derrick Tolliver (Bellaire, Ohio) and Anthony Thompson (Colquitt, Ga./Miller County) finished with a time of 44.40 seconds.

The Bison men did score in the meet, as sophomore Ben Gregg (Eighty Four, Pa./Bentworth) recorded four team points by taking fifth place overall in the javelin Thursday.
