Feb. 22 – KENT, Ohio – The Bethany College Track and Field program continued their indoor seasons Saturday night by competing at the highly competitive Kent State Tune Up.
The men were led by Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon), Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) and Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville). Moore continued his stellar season by placing second in a field of 32 competitors in the long jump (21’ 6 ¾”). He also added a 10th place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 41’ 10 ½”.
Minger also did well, grabbing a ninth-place spot in a field of 53 competitors in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.10. He also finished 24th out of 74 in the 200 meter dash (22.83).
Butler finished 25th in the 400 meter dash (51.99) and 39th in the 200 meter dash (23.09).
On the women’s side, the top performers were Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) and Kiera Goolsby (Washington, Pa./Washington). Prato once again turned in an impressive performance, finishing 21st in a field of 60 competitors in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.13. Prato also finished 23rd out of 67 in the 200 meter dash (26.74).
Goolsby also made her presence known, grabbing a 29th-place spot in the 60 meter (8.21) and finishing 40th in the 200 meter dash (27.51).
The squad will return to the track on Thursday, Feb. 27, when they will compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, hosted by Youngstown State University.
