Feb. 14 – BEREA, Ohio – The Bison Track & Field program received impressive individual efforts at the Baldwin Wallace Mid February Track Meet on Friday.
On the women’s side, the Bison were led by Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes), Heather Grinkley (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) and Lauren Rao (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home). Prato had yet another impressive performance, finishing third-place in a field of 31 competitors in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.80. Adding to that, she also notched a fourth-place finish in the 55 meter dash (7.53).
Grinkley also turned in a solid effort, placing fourth in the long jump (15’ 04 ¼”) and fifth in the 55 meter dash (7.62).
Rao continues to be a promising presence, finishing fifth in the 200 meter dash (27.96) and registering a sixth-place finish out of 15 competitors in the long jump (4’ 08 ¾”).
On the men’s side, the standouts were Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills), Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) and Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon).
Donnelly burst on the scene, winning the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:14.81 and placing second in the 3,000 meter run (9:27.99).
Minger remains undefeated on the year in the 400 meter dash, grabbing first with a time of 51.27. He also chipped in a seventh-place finish in a field of 50 competitors in the 200 meter dash (23.05).
Umar Moore continues to do well in the triple jump, grabbing a third-place spot with a leap of 44’. He also notched a fourth-place finish in the long jump (21’ 02 ¾”).
The Bison hit the track next on Saturday, Feb. 22., when they travel to Kent, Ohio for the Kent State Tune Up. The action begins at 10 a.m.
