March 7 – NEW YORK, N.Y. – Led by three top-five finishes, including two by junior Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon), the Bison Indoor Track & Field teams saw four members compete at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships over the last two days.
Moore captured two top-five finishes in the meet, placing fifth in both the long jump and triple jump. Moore competed in the triple jump on Friday evening, and against 24 other competitors, captured a fifth-place mark with a distance of 47’0.25”. That mark was just .5” away from his season best mark of 47’0.75” which currently ranks 15th in all of Division III.
Moore then competed in the Long Jump finals on Saturday afternoon, once again competing against some of the Nation’s top performers. Again, Moore walked away with a fifth-place mark, posting a mark of 23’0” in a field of 42.
Junior Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) and freshman Shae Long (Steubenville, Ohio/East Liverpool) each also competed at the ECAC Championships. Minger notched a fifth-place mark in the 400 meter run, posting a time of 50.05, while Long, competing in his first ECAC Championships, notched a 10th-place mark in the High Jump with a height of 6’3.5”.
On the women’s side, junior Maria Jackson-McBride (Spotsylvania, Va./West Potomac) was the lone competitor. Jackson-McBride picked up a ninth-place finish, totaling a time of 58.79 on the day.
The entire Bison track & field team will now shift their focus to the outdoor portion of their schedule as they are set to compete on Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14 at the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina University.
