April 25 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference has recently announced that Bethany track & field senior standouts, Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) and Maria Jackson-McBride (Spotsylvania, Va./West Potomac), have been selected as the PAC Track Athlete of the Weeks for their performances in the PAC South Quad last week.
On April 20, Minger helped the Bison men’s track team to a third-place finish at the PAC South Quad meet, tallying a pair of wins on the day. Minger first captured a victory in the 100-meter dash (11.11), before scoring a victory in the 200-meter with a time of 22.11.
His mark in the 200-meter dash shattered the meet record of 22.17, which he set one season ago. Throughout the course of the outdoor season, Minger has captured a win in 11 of his 14 races, finishing outside the top three just one time.
Minger is the second athlete in the PAC this season to repeat as Track Athlete of the Week, joining Westminster’s Jaevon Hardy as the only runners to win the award twice this season. Minger’s award also gives the Bison their third Track Athlete of the Week honor, the most of any program this season.
Jackson-McBride earned her first PAC Track Athlete of the Week honor after helping the women’s team to a third-place finish on Wednesday (62 points). The senior ran a leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay team that posted a time of 4:19.50.
Individually, Jackson-McBride tallied a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (59.48) and finished third in the 200-meter with a time of 26.73. Her time in the 400 currently ranks as the second-fastest in the conference this season, while the 1600 relay performance ranks fourth.
Minger, Jackson-McBride and the rest of the Bison will return to the track on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, as they host the PAC Outdoor Championships at Bison Stadium.
