Feb. 8 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany track & field seniors Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) and Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) have been selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week. Minger was named Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, while Moore collected his third Field Athlete of the Week award this year.
Minger earned the honors after turning in a dominating performance at the Jim Wuske Invitational at Mount Union on Saturday. Minger won the 400 as he set a meet record and conference-best time of 49.69 seconds.
His time broke the original mark of 50.16 that Justin Muise of Buffalo State University set on February 5, 2011, and currently ranks 16th among NCAA Division III counterparts.
Minger also posted a third-place showing in the 200-yard dash (22.64).
Moore collected his third weekly award out of five possible chances this season as he jumped to two second-place finishes. The senior standout registered second in both long jump (22-8.50) and triple jump (44-9) at the Jim Wuske Invite.
Moore’s effort in the long jump is the top mark in the PAC this season and places him tied for 12th in all of Division III.
The Bethany track & field teams will return to action on Saturday, February 20 at the Kenyon College classic.
