March 31 – GREENVILLE, Pa. - After qualifying for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships last week in the triple and long jump events, Bethany College track and field standout, sophomore Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon), was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week for March 24.
Moore posted a first-place finish in the triple jump (45-10.50) and a second-place finish in the long jump (22-02.50) at Saturday’s Bobcat Open Classic, hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan. He was also a member of Bethany’s second-place 400 relay squad (43.62).
Moore has performed well in the young outdoor season, placing in the top 10 in three of his four events, after coming off of a spectacular indoor campaign. This past indoor season was special for Moore, as he finished in the top-three in the triple jump five times, including a record-setting performance at the PAC Indoor Championships. He capped his season off by placing 14th at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in the triple jump with a leap of 45’ 1 ½”
Moore and the Bison will be back in action on Saturday, April 5, when they host the Bethany Invitational. Field events start at 10:00 a.m.
