May 18 – INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has announced its’ 2014 National Championship qualifying list, and Bethany College sophomore Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) has earned a spot in the Championship’s long jump finals.
In each event of the NCAA Championships, the top 20 individual performances qualified for the event. Moore qualified 16th in the long jump event, posting a distance of 23’6” (7.16 meters). He accomplished the feat twice on the season; first, on April 12 at the Westminster Invitational, and once again at the ECAC Championships on Friday afternoon.
This year’s Presidents’ Athletic Conference Champion in the long jump, Moore has won the event twice this season. It also marks the second time in his career that Moore has qualified for the NCAA National Outdoor Championships in the long jump. Last year, Moore posted a 15th-place finish, finishing with a mark of 22' 9 3/4".
Moore will compete in the long jump finals at the NCAA National Championships on Thursday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.The three-day event is being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University in Deleware, Ohio.
