May 2 – COLUMBUS, Ohio – Bethany College juniors Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon) and Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) competed at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by The Ohio State University on Saturday afternoon.
Moore, who currently ranks third in the all of Division III in the long jump, posted a fifth-place in the event against athletes from Division I. In his final jump of the day, Moore captured a leap of 23-05.50, to place him in the top five out of 18 athletes. Moore, who set both the Bethany marks in the long jump and triple jump this season, has qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships in both events.
Minger competed with athletes from all divisions in the 400-meter run, looking to better his top time of 48.73 which he captured at the Dave Labor Invite hosted by Slippery Rock University. Unofficially, the junior posted the third fatest time of his career, finishing second in his heat with a time of 48.87. However, Minger was disqualified from the event when he ran out of his lane. Despite the result, he will have two more chances to better his times in both the 200 and 400 meter runs.
The Bison will next have individuals competing on Friday, May 8 when they travel to Meadville, Pa. to compete in the Allegheny College Gator Invite.
