Sept. 16 - GREENSBURG, Pa. – Junior Carrie Talkington (Moundsville, W.Va./John Marshall) hammered 12 kills and three aces to lead the Bethany College volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-19) victory at Pitt-Greensburg Thursday night to improve to 8-1 for the season.

Talkington had a huge night at the net, posting the 12 kills and zero errors in 23 attacks for a.522 hitting percentage. Junior Alyssa Schrecengost (Wexford, Pa./Vincentian) also turned in a strong hitting percentage of .400 after hitting seven kills with only one error in 15 attempts.

Setting up the hitters up front was sophomore Jessica Zavatchen (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) with 29 assists and she also had seven digs. She did not lead the team in that category however, as sophomores Tiffany and Megan Hoffman (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn) registered 12 and nine digs, respectively. The match served as a good opportunity for many players to see action, as 16 Bison had a chance to play Thursday.

Bethany will try to keep the wins coming Saturday when they host a tri-match at Hummel Field House. The Bison and Geneva will start the day off at 11 a.m., with Geneva then taking on Grove City at 1 p.m. The final match of the day will be at 3 p.m. between Bethany and GCC.
