Sept. 12 - CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Bethany College volleyball team opened the first day of the Case Western Reserve (Ohio) University Tournament with a pair of losses, dropping 3-0 decisions to John Carroll (Ohio) University and Case Western.
In the match against John Carroll (14-25, 8-25, 23-25), freshman Alyssa Schrecengost (Wexford, Pa./Vincentian) registered five kills, while freshman Megan Hoffman (Cambridge, Pa./John Glenn) amassed 10 assists, seven digs and five aces.
The host Case Western swept the match with BC by scores of 25-10, 25-22, 25-17. Bethany freshman Courtney Meadows (Canton, Ohio/McKinley) reached double figures in kills with 10 and sophomore Emily Stewart (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) put away six. Setting up the hitters was Megan Hoffman with 24 assists.
Bethany will play two more matches Saturday at the tournament, with match-ups against Marietta (Ohio) College and Pitt-Bradford on the docket.
