Oct. 20 - BETHANY, W.Va. – Senior Lauren Spegal (Bethel Park, Pa.) had 17 kills, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Bethany College volleyball team from losing a 3-0 (27-30, 16-30, 27-30) decision to visiting Waynesburg (Pa.) University (9-17, 5-6) Saturday.

Spegal racked up seven of her 17 kills in the third game, as the Bison (7-18, 2-10) tried to battle back from a 2-0 deficit. However, the Yellow Jackets would hang on for the 30-27 win to clinch the match.

Joining Spegal with double figure kills was freshman Emily Stewart (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) with 11. Junior setter Kim McKay (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) gave out 29 assists and also served up a team-leading two aces, while sophomore Rachael Dunham (Gans, Pa./Albert Gallatin) finished with a team-high 14 digs.

The Bison will be on the road all of next week, as they travel to Geneva (Pa.) College Tuesday and Thomas More (Ky.) College Thursday for single matches before going to Saint Vincent (Pa.) College next Saturday for a tri-match that includes Franciscan (Ohio) University. Bethany will close out their regular season Monday, Oct. 29, with a home match against Grove City (Pa.) College.
