Bethany Volleyball Takes Second in PAC Preseason Poll

Aug. 25 - GREENVILLE, Pa. – Coming on the heels of its second place finish last year, the Bethany College volleyball team was predicted to take second place again in the 2012 PAC Preseason Poll., as voted by the coaches of the league.

After setting a new school record with 31 wins last year and winning their second consecutive ECAC South Region championship, the Bison earned three first place votes and 75 points to finish second behind defending PAC champion Geneva (five first place votes, 85 points). Thomas More gathered in the last first place vote and ranked third with 70 points. The top half of the league poll was rounded out by Thiel with 67 points and Westminster with 56.

The rest of the ballot was completed by Saint Vincent (48 points), Grove City (37), Washington & Jefferson (25), Waynesburg (20) and Chatham (12).

Bethany begins the 2012 season at the Capital Tournament Aug. 31-Sept. 1, which will include games against Otterbein and Moun t Union, teams who are both in the AVCA preseason poll. The Bison open PAC play Sept. 13 when they host W&J.
