Dec. 11 - WEXFORD, Pa. – The Bethany volleyball program has been awarded the Fall 2008 PAC Team Sportsmanship Award for their sport, as announced by the conference office Thursday (Dec. 11).
This new award is sponsored by the members of the PAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) in an effort to recognize and encourage positive sportsmanship among the conference teams. The SAAC is a committee consisting of student-athletes from each member institution assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience.
Other winners in their respective sports include Saint Vincent in men’s cross country; Waynesburg in women’s cross country; Thiel in football; Grove City in men’s soccer and women’s soccer; and Thomas More in women’s tennis.
"We are truly honored to be given the PAC sportsmanship award," said Bethany head coach Courtney Kline. "I am so proud of our players for giving 100% effort the entire season and pushing through the tough times. The girls never let up and always kept an excellent outllook and attitude on and off the court. Again, we are very honored to receive this award."
This is the first season the team sportsmanship awards will be given out in each of the 19 PAC sponsored varsity sports. Each PAC team was asked to vote for the conference team in their sport who displayed the highest level of sportsmanship. The awards will be handed out at the conclusion of the fall, winter and spring seasons.
