BETHANY’S SCHRECENGOST NAMED PAC VOLLEYBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sept. 10 - WEXFORD, Pa. – Bethany sophomore Alyssa Schrecengost (Wexford, Pa./Vincentian) has been selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 8.
The 5-7 outside hitter paced the Bison to a 3-1 start last week by recording 27 kills and 36 digs. She started the week with four kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 season-opening victory at Franciscan. Then at the LaRoche Tournament over the weekend, Schrecengost notched 10 kills and 13 digs in a four-set loss to eventual tourney champion Marietta.
After the setback, BC bounced back for 3-0 wins over Franciscan, where Schrecengost delivered nine kills, and Penn State-Beaver, as the Green and White took third place. For the week, her 27 kills came in 87 attempts with only six errors for a hitting percentage of .241.
Schrecengost continued her strong all-around play Wednesday to help Bethany sweep past Pitt-Greensburg 3-0. She finished with three kills, two aces and seven digs to help the Bison improve to 4-1, their best start since 2005.
“Alyssa had a great week,” said Bison head coach Courtney Kline. “We were very pleased with her consistency and leadership while on the court. She also created quite a few opportunities for our offense with her strong serve and made smart decisions when she was on offense.”
A business administration major, Alyssa is the daughter of Diane and Tom Schrecengost of Wexford, Pa.
