Oct. 12 – HOLLAND, Mich. – The Bethany College volleyball team (19-7) fell twice in the second day of the Midwest Invitational hosted by Hope College. Bethany dropped a 3-1 decision to #7 Mount Union before falling, 3-0, to #12 Wittenberg.
In the first match of the day, the Bison fell, 3-1 to Mount Union by scores of 15-25, 26-24, 12-25, 18-25. In the contest, Dylana McKenzie had a great game, posting 15 kills and just four errors in 33 attempts. Lynsie Mandt (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourn) added nine kills on the day, while Breana Harris (Severn, Md./Old Mill) notched six. Defensively, Julia Mouch recorded a season-high, 28 digs, while Kelly Bequet added 10.
In the second contest of day, the Bison faced their third opponent ranked in the top-15 as they fell, 3-0, to #12 Wittenberg. In that match, Bethany fell in straight sets for just third time this year (17-25, 15-25, 13-25).
Against the Tigers, McKenzie once again led the way, notching nine kills in the loss. Dakota McKenzie added six kills and Mouch added 14 digs, defensively.
The Bison will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in a tri-match with Chatham and Point Park. The first match of the day is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
