Sept. 25 - ALLIANCE, Ohio – After blowing past Wilmington 3-0 in their first match of the day, the Bethany College volleyball team suffered just their second loss of the season with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mount Union, who hosted the tri-match Saturday afternoon.

The Bison (12-2) rolled past Wilmington in the first match by set scores of 25-9, 25-12, 25-9. A strong service game aided BC in the triumph, as they hit 11 aces, led by three from junior Tiffany Hoffman (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn), who also recorded 14 digs. Junior Jessica Zavatchen (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) dished off 31 assists, with junior Carrie Talkington (Moundsville, W.Va./John Marshall) being the biggest beneficiary of those passes with a team-high 11 kills.

In the second match of the day, Bethany could not get their attacking game going, as they committed a season-high 25 errors. Talkington did post another BC-best 10 kills, but only three other Bison players registered kills in the 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-11) loss.

Saturday was the first of four consecutive tri-matches for the Bison, who return home on Tuesday to host Chatham at 4 p.m. and Penn State-Fayette at 8 p.m.
