September 14 – Alliance, Ohio – The Bison volleyball program split a pair of contests at the University of Mount Union on Saturday afternoon. Bethany defeated John Carroll University 3-0 before falling to Mount Union, 0-3.
In the first contest, the Bison defeated the Blue Streaks of John Carroll, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-17). In the contest, Lynsie Mandt led the way offensively as she totaled 12 kills. Mackenzie Lauber added nine kills in the contest and also distributed 24 assists.
Defensively, the Bison held John Carroll to just a .036 hitting percentage, forcing the Blue Streaks into 26 attack errors. Mandt led the way on the defensive side as well, registering her first double-double of the season, collecting 14 digs to go along with her 12 kills. Kelly Becquet added 10 digs in the victory.
With the win, Bethany its seventh consecutive victory by way of a sweep. The Bison have now won seven of nine contests by a 3-0 score.
In the second match of the day, the Bison ran into a tough Mount Union squad that came into the match ranked #9 in the country. In the contest, Bethany was swept for just the second time this season as they fell to the Purple Raiders, 0-3 (20-25, 16-25, 20-25).
Breana Harris and Dylana McKenzie both led the offense with six kills each. Defensive, Becquet once again led the way with 11 digs.
The Bison will return to action on September 17 as they travel to Grove City, Pa. for a PAC contest with Grove City College. The contest is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
