Sept. 30 – Greenville, Pa. – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference has honored Bethany College sophomore setter, Mackenzie Lauber (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison Mansfield) with the PAC Volleyball Player of the Week award, announced the conference office on Monday.
Lauber helped the Bison to a 2-0 week last week, defeating W&J (3-1) and Waynesburg (3-0) in the process. In the contest against Washington & Jefferson, Lauber recorded 29 assists and 10 digs, notching her third double-double of the season. Against Waynesburg, Lauber recorded six kills while committing zero errors and also chipped in with 19 assists. She totaled 12 kills on the week while committing just one error and hitting .458.
In her first season of competition with the Bison, Lauber has been terrific, ranking third on the team in kills with 103 and registering 512 assists through the first 18 games this season. Lauber has also made her mark in the PAC as she leads all players in both service aces (35) and hitting percentage (.383).
“Mackenzie has been a great addition to this team,” said head coach Courtney Kline. “With the departure of Zavatchen this season, it was great to find someone that could step up and fill that lead role so quickly.
“Lauber is a tremendous athlete and her ability to be so creative on the floor not only allows the whole team to get involved, but it also helps her create her own offensive opportunities; opportunities which she hardly ever let slip past.”
Lauber and the Bison have a big week ahead as they take on Westminster College on Tuesday. Following that the Bison will travel to Crestview Hills, Ky. for a tri-match between the top three-teams in the conference as they take on Geneva and Thomas More on Saturday.
