Jan. 8 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College women’s basketball team (3-9, 2-3 PAC) dropped a 69-63 decision to conference foe Westminster College on Wednesday evening.
The first half saw Westminster jump out to an early eight-point lead (10-2) at the 17:21 mark of the first half, after a layup by Allison Borts.
Bethany would counter with a 17-9 run of their own to knot the game at 19-19 with 8:43 remaining in the first stanza. The run was capped off when Sami Schott (Caldwell, Ohio/Shenandoah) converted on a pair of free throws.
The Titans would then go on a run of their own, scoring the next eight points to retake the lead 27-19 with 6:08 left in the first frame.
The Bison would pull within four points (29-24) at the 5:18 mark, after a three-point basket was drilled by Schott. The Titans however, never relinquished the first-half lead, entering intermission with a seven-point advantage (44-37).
The second half saw the Titans extend their advantage to 16 points (68-52) after a three-point basket was made by Jenna Grandy with 3:57 left to play.
The Bison would not go away quietly however, as they went on a 11-0 run, getting five points from Lauren Simpson (Washington, Pa./Trinity), to cut the Titan lead to five points (68-63) with nine seconds remaining.
However, time would not be on the Bison’s side, as the clock would put an end to the furious rally and the Bison would fall, 69-63.

Williams played well on both ends of the court, scoring eight points and grabbing four rebounds, while also notching four assists and two steals.
