Jan. 6 – DANBURRY, Conn. – Bethany College women’s basketball freshman, Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier), has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Regional Rookie of the Week announced the ECAC on Tuesday.
The award marked the second of the season for Daugherty who also earned the distinction on December 17. She played efficiently in Bethany's 85-45 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win over Chatham University on Saturday, totaling 18 points and nine rebounds in just 19 minutes. Her rebound total helped the Bison notch 77 rebounds in the victory, the most by a PAC program since Westminster totaled 77 against Hiram back in 2010.
Over the course of the season, Daugherty has averaged 13.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest. Her point total ranks ninth in the PAC, while her rebounding average is 11th in the conference. Since she has been inserted into the starting lineup six games ago, the Bison have posted a 4-2 record with Daugherty averaging 18.8 points per contest.
Daugherty and the Bison will be back in action on Wednesday, January 7 as they travel to Crestview Hills, Kentucky to take on Thomas More College. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
