Dec. 15 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College forward, freshman Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier), has been named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, announced the PAC on Monday.
Daugherty was a major reason why the Bison captured a pair of victories last week. Averaging 18 points and seven boards per game, Daugherty shot 59 percent from the field (13-22) and 10-of-16 from the charity stripe. She also displayed her defense, racking up five steals and a block. Her best game came in a win over Geneva, where she tallied 21 points and seven rebounds.
On the year, she ranks eighth in the conference in points per game (13.7) and has registered double-figures in the scoring column in five straight games. If her average stands for the remainder of the season, Daugherty will be the highest scoring freshman for the Bison since Rosanne Scott averaged 15.2 points per game during the 1996-97 campaign.
Daugherty and the Bison will look to continue their hot start to the season on Dec. 16 as they play host to Hiram College. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
