Feb. 11 - CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Bethany College sophomore women's basketball standout Sami Schott (Caldwell, Ohio/Shenandoah) has been named the Corvias/Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Region Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced the ECAC on Tuesday.
Schott had arguably her best two-game stretch of the season, averaging 18.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 2.0 assists in a pair of league victories for the Bison last week. In Bethany's 85-78 win at Westminster on Feb. 5, Schott scored a game-high 18 points, corralled five rebounds and chipped in with two assists and a steal. She continued her steady play in a 78-61 home win over Thiel on Feb. 8, tallying her fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 17 rebounds and a game-high 18 points. She finished the week knocking down 61.9 percent (13-of-21) of her attempts from the field and converted on 9-of-11 attempts (81.8%) from the charity stripe.
Schott is having an impressive year thus far, leading the team in rebounds (7.5) and ranking second in scoring per contest (11.1). She has also made an impact on the defensive side of the floor, ranking second on the team in blocks and fourth in steals.
On the year, Schott has totaled four double-doubles, which ranks first on the team. She has totaled seven double-digit rebound outputs, and scored in double figures on 12 different occasions. Along with the ECAC award, Schott was also named PAC player of the week for her efforts.
