Sept. 4- BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany College women’s soccer team (0-3) fell, 2-1, to visiting Franciscan University (2-0) in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon at Hoag Field. Mallory Garthwaite earned the victory for the Lady Barons as she made four saves in the game.
Ashley Ruttencutter scored the game’s first goal in the 12th minute for the Barons as she received a pass from Jordan Byrley on the left side of the eighteen yard box and lobbed it over the goalkeepers head and into the right side of the net.

Five minutes before halftime, freshman Julie Slezak (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) scored a great goal to tie the game at one. Freshman Brittany Fullbright (Wadsworth, OH/Wadsworth) took a free kick just outside the eighteen yard box and put a great cross into the box which Slezak volleyed into the left side of the net.
