Bethany Tennis Falls To Geneva In Season Opener

August 29 - BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College women’s tennis program kicked off the 2013 campaign with a 9-0 defeat at the hands of Geneva College on Thursday evening at the Mary Ewing Tennis Center.

The Golden Tornadoes (1-0) got off to a fast start, taking all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles play. Junior Allison Snyder (Newcomerstown, Ohio/Newcomerstown) and freshman Katie Vallone (Rochester, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) appeared in their first doubles contest together, falling 8-2 at number one doubles.

In singles play, the Bison dropped all six, with Snyder putting in the top performance, falling to Elizabeth Stewart 3-6, 4-6 at number one singles. Vallone also won multiple games in singles play, falling to Samantha Johnson 3-6, 3-6 at number three.

The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, September 7 when they play host to Chatham University and Thomas More College in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference tri-match. The first match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.
