Visual and Performing Arts
Dr. David Rudari, Assistant Professor of Music has returned from a guest appearance at the University of Wyoming. "I was one of two alumni invited to join in a School of Music/Community tribute to my former voice teacher, Professor Frederick Gersten, who passed away in January. It was a great honor to sing with my former accompanist in that hall again, especially to sing repertoire that he premiered on that stage in 1984, when I was his student. Mr. Gersten recruited me
to the UW program in the summer of 1982, and was responsible for much of my early singing and conducting success and involvement in higher education. Through opera directing and concert appearances, he, and his late wife, Joan, brought music to a wider variety of audiences in and around the state of Wyoming. After thirty-eight performances of the Wolf in Barab's, "Little Red Riding Hood," I got to know a lot of small towns and some wonderful people. It was a great run, and it had a lot of influence on what I try to do in my teaching."
