Honored at Luncheon
Dr. Peter Morgan ’61 and his wife, Lynne ’61, were
honored at a luncheon at Christman Manor at Pendleton Heights
last week by President and Mrs. Miller. Peter served as Bethany
College’s first Renner Visiting Scholar of the 2008-09
academic year as well as Interim Pastor at Bethany Memorial
Church and Chaplain of the College.
During their time in Bethany, the Morgans
hosted an Open House at Hibernia to designate it as the Renner
Visiting Scholars Residence. After leaving Bethany, Dr. Morgan
returns to National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C.
where he is currently Historian in Residence and editor of publications.
Supporting ‘Coins for a Cause’
Members of the Black Alliance club will be collecting coins
or money in support of “Coins for a Cause” through
Nov. 11. “Coins for a Cause” is designed to help
fund the needs of underprivileged children in the local area.
All donations will be given to the Bethlehem
Apostolic Temple in Wheeling, headed by Rev. Cummins. The program
is focused on meeting the needs of low income and at-risk children.
The club would also like to thank the Bethany community for
its support of the recent tin drive.
Bethany Dressage Team
Comes Out on Top
The Bethany College Dressage Team scored
16 points to lead all schools at the Dressage Team Show at Otterbein
College (Westerville, Ohio). Helping the team win points were:
Gary Cooper with a first place finish at the Introductory Level,
Alyssa Petko with a third place finish at First Level, Emma
Lendt with a fourth place finish at Lower Training Level and
Krystal Daubenspeck with a fifth place finish at the Upper Training
The team will again be in action again
at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio on November 22.
Relay for Life Set
for Nov. 15-16
Bethany College’s annual Relay for
Life event will be held from 7 p.m. on Nov. 15 to 7 a.m. on
Nov. 16 at the Thomas P. Johnson Recreation Center. Jim Forbes,
faculty advisor for BethCom TV-14 and Managing Editor/Anchor
for WTRF-TV and Fox Ohio Valley in Wheeling, will deliver the
keynote address at approximately 7:40 p.m. The popular luminaria
ceremony starts at 9 p.m.
The Relay for Life events are the most
significant fundraisers in support of the American Cancer Society.
Organizers for the Bethany relay are sending out a special call
for cancer survivors willing to participate in the survivor
lap that follows the keynote address.

team, joining an existing relay team or walking as a survivor

Mu Anniversary Weekend Set For March 6-7
Bethany College’s Beta Nu chapter
of the national Phi Mu female fraternity will celebrate its
70th year at Bethany with an Anniversary Weekend on March 6-7,
2009. Phi Mu alumni are being asked to save those dates and
make plans to join their sisters for a weekend of celebration
that will include a luncheon, auction and house tours. Additional

Stefanizzi Earns Second Team Academic All-District
Bethany junior Tim Stefanizzi (Brave,
Pa./Waynesburg Central) has been voted to the ESPN the Magazine
Second Team Academic All-District II Football team, as announced
Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America
Bison Earn All-Conference at PAC Championships
Bethany sophomore Suzanne Stettinius (Parkton,
Md./Hereford) and junior Maggie McCort (Fort Ashby, W.Va./Frankfort)
earned Second Team All-PAC honors to highlight the Bison cross
country teams’ efforts at the 2008 PAC Championships,
which were hosted Saturday by Thomas More at the Voice of America
Park near Cincinnati, Ohio.
2nd Quarter Sends Geneva to 38-23 Win Over Bison
Geneva scored 25 second quarter points,
including 17 in the final 2:31 of the period, to build an 11-point
halftime lead and go on to a 38-23 victory over the Bethany
football team Saturday afternoon at Bison Stadium.
Season Ends With 2-1 OT Loss at Thomas More
A goal by Thomas More’s Aaron Osborne
just 19 seconds into the first overtime gave the Saints a 2-1
victory over the Bethany men’s soccer team Saturday afternoon
in a contest that was played at Xavier University.
