MLK Celebration Dinner Held
The Office of Student Life, in honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., held a Celebration Dinner on January 16 in the Bethany Club. The Rev. Thomas Johnson Jr., the Co-founder and Head of the Neighborhood Academy in Pittsburgh spoke to the crowd on the importance of service and giving back to the community.

Freshman Class Council to Host Just Desserts Dance
The Freshman Class Council will be hosting a semi-formal dance in Commencement Hall, Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6 - 8 p.m., immediately following the J-Term Dinner. The Freshman Class Council sponsored January Term Dinner will be held in the Ogden Dining Hall from 5 - 6:30 p.m.  Desserts will be served at the dance.

Drive with Pride: Introducing the Bethany College License Plate
Show how green you really are with the new Bethany College license plate.

Available to Bethany College alumni, employees, students, family members and friends, the Bethany plate is a custom-designed, special-issue offering for all Class A motor vehicles currently licensed in West Virginia.

The Bethany College Office of Alumni and Parent Relations is accepting applications NOW for the new plate. We must secure a minimum of 250 applications within the next few months to ensure that the plate is produced.

Arthur Keys Earns Emory Honor for International Relief, Development Work
The Rev. Dr. Arthur B. Keys Jr., a 1967 graduate of Bethany College and founder and president of International Relief and Development (IRD) in Arlington, Va., has earned the Emory Honor for International Relief, Development Work.

Lynn Waltz Appointed Interim Assistant Director at Old Dominion University
Old Dominion University has appointed Lynn Waltz '78 as interim assistant director of its ODU Tri-Cities Center. Waltz previously served as a student success and outreach specialist at ODU Tri-Cities, and she has also taught English at both Tidewater Community College and Old Dominion University.  Waltz previously worked as a reporter for The Virginian-Pilot.   Waltz earned a master of fine arts in creative writing from Old Dominion University and a bachelor of arts in English from Bethany College. 

ODU Tri-Cities is a full-service facility offering bachelor’s and graduate degree and certificate programs, as well as onsite university admissions, advising and other success services for residents of Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk and surrounding localities.

Bison Women Best Frostburg State Behind Reass & Baker
Senior Sara Reass (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and freshman Marina Baker (Winchester, Va./Sherando) both won three individual events and added a relay win to lead the Bethany College women’s swimming and diving team to a 107-92 victory over Frostburg State (Md.) University Wednesday night.

Bethany Pulls Away for 77-63 Win Over Saint Vincent
A thunderous dunk by senior British Alexander (Dayton, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) ignited a surge over the final six minutes by the Bethany College basketball team, as they pulled away for a 77-63 victory over visiting Saint Vincent Wednesday night.

Bethany Falls to PAC Co-Leader Saint Vincent
The Bethany College women’s basketball team went cold Wednesday night as they suffered a tough loss to Saint Vincent 70-45.

Bethany Releases 2012 Football Schedule
After posting consecutive .500 seasons for only the second time in 30 years, the Bethany College football program has released its 2012 schedule, which will feature two first-time opponents and a full slate against Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) teams.
