The women’s volleyball team is hosting the first annual Dig Pink Volleyball Match to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The Dig Pink night will be held on September 28 and will feature a tri-match between Chatham University and Penn State Fayette. The match schedule includes Bethany vs. Chatham at 4 p.m. and Chatham vs. Penn State Fayette at 6 p.m. The Dig Pink match will be Bethany vs. Penn State Fayette at 8 p.m. Bethany women’s volleyball is excited to be a part of the Side-Out Foundation and Dig Pink campaign. Bethany Mourns Passing of Legendary Bill Hoag ‘50
Bethany College graduate William “Bill” R. Hoag ’50 passed away September 7 after battling cancer. Hoag remained actively involved in the leadership of Bethany even after graduating. He served on Bethany’s Board of Trustees and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humanities by the College. Bethany’s Hoag Soccer Field was dedicated to him in 1990 after undergoing an extensive renovation for which Hoag provided much of the funding. Hoag was a First Lieutenant in WWII and received a Purple Heart for his service. He was president and CEO of West Elizabeth Lumber Co., and Chairman of the Board of NILCO Lumber Co., at the time of his death.
Beinhauers is overseeing funeral arrangements, and friends are welcome at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, Pa. 724.941.3211 on Friday, 7-9 p.m. A service will be held there on Saturday at 11 a.m., with entombment at Jefferson Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Bethany College and/or Kiski Prep School.
Homecoming to Feature Softball Celebrations
Attention Bethany Softball Alumni! Dust off your softball gloves and join Coach Jan Forsty on Homecoming Weekend at the annual Alumni Softball Game slated for noon, Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Softball Field. A picnic lunch will follow play. Also that weekend, new Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Shelly Cooper ‘95 and 10 other alumni softball team members who are in the Hall of Fame will be honored. Bethany Accepting Reservations for Homecoming Tailgate Tent Space

Bethany Celebrating the 10th Annual Allison’s Run
In conjunction with Homecoming 2010, the 10th Annual Allison’s Run, a conversational and recreational run or walk, will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, October 2, beginning at the Cunningham Soccer Complex located at the intersection of Route 67 and Castleman’s Run Road. Bison Baseball Alumni, Save the Date!
Attention Bison Baseball Alumni! Save the date and join us for the annual Alumni Baseball Game slated for Saturday, September 11, at Bethany Park. The game will begin at noon with batting practice at 10 a.m. In the first contest, the alumni team will play versus the varsity team for nine innings. Alumni will then be "drafted" for another 9-inning intra-squad game. In addition to a meet-and-greet with current players, a picnic dinner will follow when play concludes.

The Office of Alumni & Parent Relations recently launched Bethany Live. The Web-based community will allow you to keep up with alumni news, create a profile, post class notes and photos, participate in discussions via the message board and communicate with your classmates in a very similar manner to that of Facebook.
To log in for the first time, visit www.live.bethanywv.edu. Click on
"first-time login" at the top of the page on in the green bar. Enter your name and your constituent ID when prompted and you'll be on your way. The system will walk you through each step to create a profile, upload photos, edit personal information, etc.

Bethany Football Celebrates Weekend of Champions
In addition to opening the 2010 football season last weekend, the Bethany College football team also celebrated the “Weekend of Champions”, as they welcomed back the four past PAC championship teams for two days of activities.

Paced by a balanced attack featuring five hitters with five or more kills, the Bethany College volleyball team swept past Franciscan 3-0 Wednesday night to improve their record to 5-0 this season.
Bethany Heads to King's Looking for 1-1 Record
After a disappointing result in their opening week, the Bethany College football team will head out on the road in search of their first win this year when they travel to King’s College for non-conference tilt. Kickoff in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is schedule for 1 p.m.

After leading the Bethany College volleyball team to a first place finish at last weekend’s Marietta Tournament, sophomore setter Jessica Zavatchen (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) was selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week for Sept. 7.
Bison Can't Make Up Early Deficit in 2-1 Loss to Seton Hill
Junior Cassie Spalding (Claysville, Pa./McGuffey) scored her third goal in three games this season in the 85th minute, but the Bethany College women’s soccer team was unable to come back from a two-goal deficit and suffered a 2-1 defeat to Division II Seton Hill Wednesday night at Bison Stadium.
Malone Slips Past Bethany Men 2-0
Another early goal put the Bethany College men’s soccer team in an early hole and Malone put the match away with a late score to hand the Bison a 2-0 defeat Wednesday.
Bison Fall in First PAC Match to Westminster
The Bethany College women’s tennis team lost its opening PAC match of the season Wednesday by the score of 9-0 to visiting Westminster.
